The original scope was to build a 200 key four plus star hotel combining the existing building with a new structure on an adjacent lot. SHoP was also responsible for the interior design of the public spaces. The buildings location meant involvement with Landmarks and SHPO (State Historic Preservation Organization) for the tax credit process. After several months, due to financial constraints, the client decided to scale back the scope of the project and chose to renovate the existing building into a 160 key hotel and not to build the addition. At this time SHoP took on the interior design and layout of the hotel rooms in addition to the public spaces.
