SHOP

SHoP’s urban design proposal for Jiading New City focuses on four city blocks adjacent to the completed light rail station. The project accommodates a rich mixed-use program, including a shopping mall, an IMAX theatre, boutique stores, restaurants, residential towers and office buildings. SHoP’s design pushes the residential and office volumes to the two ends of the site, and concentrates retail and recreation uses in the middle; an undulating green roof extends over the buildings, and extends to become podium roof gardens for the residential and office towers. The park and retail space are linked to light-rail transit by pedestrian bridges.
