KONZA TECHNO PAVILION
LOCATION / NAIROBI, KENYA
PHASE / UNDER CONSTRUCTION
SIZE / 30,000 SF

The first building to be built as part of the 5,000 acre Konza Techno City masterplan, the KTC Pavilion will serve as the central information center for the masterplan. The building itself emerges from the open savanna with a graceful, iconic form evoking a solitary Acacia tree. The most visually prominent feature of the pavilion is the undulating roof canopy, which floats over the single level pavilion and both creates the pavilion’s profile in the landscape and provides shade for the roof deck and program below. Openings in the roof break up the form and bring light down into key program spaces, including the meeting room, auditorium, and terrarium. The building is to be built locally in Kenya using an advanced direct-to-fabrication workflow, reflecting the goals and ambitions of Konza Techno City.
