The project is a small jewelry store in the NoLita section of downtown New York, just east of Soho. The design aimed to create a space that was powerful enough to draw passersby into the store without competing with the delicacy of the small objects it showcases. The clients, who are the jewelry designers, draw inspiration for their work from nature and from middle-eastern themes. The design for the store updates and reinterprets these concepts using raw materials such as solid walnut flooring, concrete and steel as juxtaposition to the refinement of intricately worked platinum, gold and silver. A lily pond made from cast-in-place white concrete supports the storefront glass while a small Buddha statue greets you in the small niche by the door.
