The National Veterans Resource Complex (NVRC) will be a first-of-its-kind facility dedicated to advancing academic research, action-oriented programming, and community-connected innovation in service to the nation’s veterans and military-connected families. Planned for the western portion of the Waverly block on the Syracuse University campus, the NVRC will act as a new entrance to the historic core of the university, and a bridge to the surrounding city. The NVRC will play a transformative role in providing educational access to veterans and their families by including meeting areas and classrooms to accommodate veterans-focused programming, in addition to space for a variety of veteran service groups, Army and Air Force ROTC, and the headquarters of the Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF). A state-of-the-art conference center and a 1,000-seat auditorium will host community activities, lectures, and national conventions. A white-box gallery is planned as well, for relevant temporary exhibitions and to showcase the university’s unique legacy of welcoming and serving America’s military men and women. Designed as a LEED-certified facility, the NVRC will serve the entire Syracuse community as an inclusive building in every sense.
