Designed for DC Greens, a local food justice organization, the farm and its many gathering spaces will be an economic and cultural resource for the vibrant communities of Congress Heights, Bellevue, and Washington Highlands. The 50,000 square foot site will feature extensive vegetable beds, a fence-line farm stand, an orchard supported by resident chickens, and pick-your-own flower gardens, as well as a classroom, a Little Free Library, and sites for local art. An adjacent stand of trees will be dedicated to the memory of District residents who have been lost to gun violence. The Porch, a larger-scale space for gathering, will host music, theater and dance performances developed in partnership with local artists.
